The 25-year-old is poised to become the highest paid player in Real Madrid history and his earnings are likely to be further boosted by a new tax law that will come into place in Madrid.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, the ‘Mbappe law’ will come into effect before the Frenchman’s anticipated move this summer.

It will mark the second piece of tax legislation named after a Real Madrid player after the ‘Beckham law’ which sees foreign nationals pay less tax.

The Spanish government is likely to approve the law which will soon be put up for vote. It will see investing foreign nationals pay up to 20 per cent less tax on their earnings in the Madrid region.

That would see Mbappe pay just 24.5 per cent personal income tax – just 2 percent more than workers who earn salaries of between €12,000 & €18,000 and the same as a worker who earns €24,000.

Without the law, Mbappe would be taxed almost half of his wages if he did not invest; however, the discounted tax rate would pull him in line with the regular worker.

Mbappe could earn a much higher salary should he have opted to extend his adventure with Paris Saint-Germain or move to the Premier League but the law will ensure his earnings have a much different look to it.

The World Cup winner is yet to announce his future destination but it is believed that a move to the Spanish capital is close to being finalised.

However, no communication is expected until the end of the season and when Real Madrid have no possibility of facing Mbappe and PSG in the Champions League.
