Champions dominate your combined Man City-Chelsea XI

Manchester City and Chelsea combined XI

Few fans would have expected Chelsea to sit a point clear of Premier League champions Manchester City with a third of the season gone.

But Frank Lampard's young team, who are third, will face a true test of their top-four credentials when they travel to meet Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday.

That's certainly the case if your combined XI of the two sides is anything to go by.

Eight of the 11 players selected are from Manchester City, showing that proven title-winning capability is preferred to potential.

Lampard will just hope his side can avoid a 6-0 mauling at Etihad Stadium under former boss Maurizio Sarri last season.

Ederson was the outstanding choice as your goalkeeper, with 88% of you voting for the Brazilian.

In defence, Kyle Walker was picked by 57% of you, with most choosing him at right-back. On the other flank, the vote was more split as 25% of you opted for Chelsea's Emerson at left-back ahead of City's Oleksandr Zinchenko and Cesar Azpilicueta.

At centre-back City's Aymeric Laporte was a clear favourite with 80% of you selecting him in your team despite the French defender being injured. Fikayo Tomori (38%) edged out Antonio Rudiger (37%).

The midfield looks impressive with Kevin de Bruyne (86% of the vote), N'Golo Kante (77%) and the evergreen David Silva (45%) edging out the likes of Mason Mount.

Up front, there was little argument. Sergio Aguero was the clear choice as a frontman with 88% of you picking him in your team, with Raheem Sterling close behind with 82% of the vote. Bernardo Silva (50%) beat Tammy Abraham (41%) to make up a dangerous all-City front three.

Ominous for Chelsea? Perhaps. But since they lost 4-0 to Manchester United on the opening Premier League weekend, Chelsea have won all five of their away games.

You can still pick your combined XI but unfortunately your votes won't be counted - and don't forget to share your picks on social media using #bbcfootball.
