Blackburn Rovers defender out for the season with injury

Blackburn Rovers defender Joe Grayson is out for the season following surgery on a hamstring injury as confirmed by the Lancashire Telegraph.

Rovers are currently suffering somewhat of an injury crisis and Grayson is the latest defender to add his name to the injury list.

The under-23’s captain suffered the injury during training and joins Darragh Lenihan and Greg Cunningham (both knee) on the sidelines, while Tyler Magloire is back at Rovers undergoing his rehabilitation following surgery on an injury picked up during his loan spell with Rochdale.

Grayson had started in the Carabao Cup in August and was all set for another loan spell in January before this latest injury setback.

The 20-year-old updated his social media to update the supporters on his surgery.

Grayson finished last season with Grimsby Town, playing eight times for the League Two side and is an important player for the youth side at Rovers.

A number of Rovers’ other younger players are also currently injured, with under-23s boss Billy Barr unable to call on Charley Doyle, Louis Annesley and Sam Hart.

In addition, there are plenty of injuries at first-team level for boss Tony Mowbray to contend with and they have recently bought in Manchester City’s Timi Sobowale on trial as they search for adequate replacements for their depleted squad.

The 17-year-old could feature again when the Under-23s travel to Chelsea on Saturday following his first appearance in the Lancashire Senior Cup quarter final win over Everton.
